What is Cubic Zirconia?

Cubic zirconia is a synthetic gemstone that very closely resembles diamonds. Because of its startling diamond-like appearance, cubic zirconia is a highly popular gemstone used most frequently in jewellery such as rings, earrings, bracelets and pendants. Although cubic zirconia is synthetic, it is inspired by its natural counterpart, zirconium oxide (ZrO2), first discovered in 1892 but too rare to be commercially profitable. Through a series of separate experiments by German and Soviet scientists, zirconium oxide and yttrium oxide were eventually melted together at temperatures reaching 4,982ºF (2,750ºC) to grow cubic zirconia crystals in the laboratory.

Cubic zirconia is crystalline, flawless, and clear enough to rate a "D" on the diamond scale for color. Though usually colorless, it can also be made in nearly any color, including soft yellow, characteristic of some diamonds. Cubic zirconia sparkles brighter than crystal and is harder than most gems, making it very durable. It also weighs about 65% more than diamond. However, if there is an obvious difference between the two to the untrained eye, it is that cubic zirconia has a higher dispersion rate than diamond.

A colorless cubic zirconia is extremely difficult to distinguish from a diamond, and appears identical to the untrained eye.

What is Micro setting ?

The micro pave technique uses a large amount of very small Cubic zirconium or diamond stones and puts them in a setting in which they are very close together. Usually in a white metal, gold and silver jewellery, this gives a very glittering and eye catching effect to the jewellery. Cubic zirconium is a perfect stone to use in this type of jewellery because by using hundreds of tiny stones it is virtually impossible for the naked eye to tell the difference between these artificial stones and their much more valuable counterparts. This type of jewellery is so glamorous and beautiful that it can be worn with just about any outfit on any occasion.

This type of jewellery has very popular recently because of its almost unbelievable ability to catch the light and reflected it in a dazzling and sparkling way. It takes a very highly skilled and talented craftsman to create this type of jewellery. Once you see a piece of finally made micro pave jewellery, it is hard to imagine anything else as beautiful.

Micro pave setting has become very popular with costumer shopping for Band rings, wedding rings, Engagement and anniversary rings, Bangles, Pendants, and Earrings. The delicate and brilliant appearance that it creates is something never seen before in the jewellery industry.
